It’s not enough to show someone how to fish – we also teach them to think

This was one of the phrases that could be heard at Club Esment Escola Professional during the talk given by the lecturer from Stanford University and main partner of Cumpetere, Antonio Vives. Vives talked about the importance of the Dual Training model for generating good jobs within a company, claiming that spending on training is actually an investment and, among many other ideas, explained why the great challenge for firms is to serve society – as a goal and not as a means to an end. Talking to 60 professionals from the world of tourism and hotels, restaurants and catering, the Head of CSR for Riu Hotels, Catalina Alemany, described the hotel chain’s experience with the Dual Training of Esment Escola Professional. “Everything went according to plan – and that’s quite an achievement” she said during her talk. Finally, representatives from the Fundación Bertelsmann explained their state-wide Alianza project. All the guests were able to taste the products made by Forn Pes de sa Palla, the new activity by Esment Alimentació.
